VIDEO: Rockynats 03 With JBens - Part 1

Rare Spares Rockynats 03, a festival of automotive in Central Queensland during Easter weekend, had 1300-plus cars in a parade and various events including drag racing, show and shine, burnouts, and awards show. Billy Shelton won Rockynats Champion.

Rare Spares Rockynats 03 is run and done. There’s nothing quite like a festival of all things automotive in Central Queensland - Easter weekend. To celebrate the rad time everyone had check out the video and let JBens give you a look at just how much fun was had by all. But how did it all go down you ask?

Where do we start? Well, everything kicked off with 1300-plus cars in the Canna Street Parade on Friday, followed by the Rev’s Paint Supplies Elite Hall Unveils where seven of the best had the covers pulled off. The crowd ooo’d and ahhh’d as you would expect - check out more on that HERE.

Friday night we headed up Mount Archer to check the Rocky view - a great windy road to drive your ride up, park up and enjoy. After the views the ‘Cri’ Hotel was the place to go for a steak and a beer. And this is only Friday still - buckle up.

Saturday kicked off of the Garrett Advancing Motion Street Drags where we saw some insane numbers ran by many epic street machines. Cars, 4x4s (some surprisingly fast ones, too) and bikes were lined around the corner in the Rocky CBD to ensure they got their chance to launch their way down Quay Street - drag racing is cool, but street drag racing is where its at.

If you love cars you’ll need to see the Finch’s Mitre 10 Show ’N’ Shine on Quay Street. You’d have to look all over the world for a better place to hold a show and shine, that’s just fact. The level of cars, the Fitzroy River as the backdrop, the amazing architecture of some of Rockhampton's oldest buildings, the Queensland sun, and most of all, a pub at each end of the display - who doesn’t love a pub.

The video below also gives you an inside look to what it’s like to go for a ride in a pro burnout car - this was Jacko’s first ride and you have to watch to see his reaction. And of all cars to ride in, LUXIFER was on song. What an experience.

We stopped by the Insane Performance Dyno Cell right at the perfect time to witness a twin-turbo Camaro spin up a hefty 1600-plus horsepower - the noise was nuts. And how could we forget the Rev’s Paint Supplies Elite Hall. It had everything from a V8-swapped BMW E30, a mint HQ Monaro, Billy Shelton’s ‘SICKEST’ VL Calais, Luke Mitchell’s blown ‘EVIL LJ’ Torana and much, much more.

Burnouts at the Buddy’s Fire Burnout Precinct were on the menu for Saturday night, and like always the skids didn’t disappoint. The crowd cheered like it was their first time seeing 1000-plus horsepower machines put pair after pair of tyres in the grave.

Sunday is the business end of the festival. It was all about burnout finals, the road to Rocky Champion and of course the Full Throttle Awards show which is the cherry on top at the very end.

Billy Shelton won Rockynats Champion, Peter Grmusa won the Pro Burnouts, but the real winner was the 1500-plus entrants and the town and people of Rockhampton itself - you are all rockstars and we can't wait to party with you again in 2024 - but don't think about next Rockynats just yet, sit back and enjoy what Rockynats 03 was like in the video below. Maad.
