WRECKAGE Torana Chasing Golden Ticket To Summernats 36

You will remember Aiden Stampalia’s Bali build Torana that debuted last Summernats. It proved many naysayers wrong with the tight deadline and huge hours poured into his ground up build.

All this just to skid the epic pad of Summernats with the sickest crowd egging you on, and to Aiden, there is no better feeling than rolling out there and sending it hard.

If you’ve ever spoken to Aiden you know that he loves a challenge when it comes to cars, especially if the deadline is extremely close and most of us would deem unachievable in day-to-day timeline. With that in mind and the Summernats pad being the only place to be come in January Stampalia is on a new mission, now the Torana’s deadline is West Coast Nats mid-September as it’s the last chance to qualify for burnout masters in the WA rounds.

You may think, wait a minute wasn’t that finished at Summernats last year? If you remember after the unfortunate engine failure during the build, the Torana had a borrowed blown LS setup to get him over the line. Since then, Aiden has been patiently waiting on parts so he can get ‘WRECKAGE’ back out there blowin’ tyres. Fast forward seven months and Brett Niddrie from BNR engines has rebuilt and dyno’d the 358ci Dodge R5P7, where it saw over 830hp and over 9000rpm.

The engine now in WA and ready for the transplant, Aiden’s plan was to debut the car with the new donk later this the year, but there was no way his arm wasn’t going to get twisted from mates Tristhan with ‘EBLUBLY’ and Damon with ‘WHOPPA’ whilst on their mad dash road trip to the latest Gazzanats in Darwin.

Aiden has a fair point when he said, “Many people would think to achieve time frames like this a big wallet and big workshops are needed, but I think my group of mates have proved time and time again all we need is a few cartons of beer and the boys.”

These lads all banned together for last year’s build of the Bali Torana, the guys pushing the limits on that last trip with the paint still drying on the bonnet as they set off across the Nullarbor. Straight after Summernats 35 they got together and done the same thing to help debut Reece Regan’s HR Ute for Motorvation 36, which blew everyone away in his efforts with the Grand Champion driving events.

With most of the guys working away it only leaves them one week between now and West Coast Nats to get the Dodge mounted, extractors made, wiring fed, plumb up the dry sump and fuel system, along with whatever other challenges they might face throughout that week to get it to the dyno.

“For us, it’s all just about mates getting together and supporting each other to make dreams happen. Tristan Bruce Powers, Lionel Powers, Graeme Saunders, Reece Regan, Michael Donnelly and Damon Storer are the enlisted team so far to get this one done.”

Passion and dedication like this is what we love to see in the lead up to our events. We will check in with the lads through the week of hell to give you the update on this epic journey to get that golden ticket to what is a sold out Summernats 36.

Good luck fellas!
