The MPW Dyno Cell ran hot all weekend long at for Haltech Horsepower Heroes at Street Machine Summernats 35, with a stack of cars laying down their best on the dyno. It was a battle of variety, with Ford, Holden, Dattos and more punching for big numbers.
Sunday's finals saw Cody Hunt's killer VE Clubsport Wagon take out the show, laying down a mega 1643hp at the hubs. Cody's VE runs a 427ci Dart LS with two Precision 88mm turbos packing plenty of boost, all run by a Haltech Nexus ECU. Cody told us that the car has actually made over 2000hp before, but it's 1643hp run was the highest it ran at the 'Nats.
Andrew Copley brought out his Ford FPV F6 and ran the second highest numbers of the weekend, with the turbo-Barra powered ute hitting a peak of 1438hp. Andrew took out the forced induction six class, over Andrew Hawkin's Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R who ran 1103hp.
Mark Biffin’s 1969 HK Holden Premier ran first in the Eight Cylinder Aspirated class thanks to his 423ci carby Small Block Chev that pumped out a solid 627hp. Mark told his he was stoked with his efforts at his first ever Summernats and is already entered and ready to rock at Rare Spares Rockynats 03 over the Easter long weekend.
Tony Spasenoski took out the Six Cylinder Aspirated class in his Hemi six '76 Chrysler Centura. Stroked out to 320-cubes. Tony's Mopar was built by Chris Mirabito from Mirabito Performance. The killer little Hemi combo put down 442hp, taking the class win ahead of Zane Heath’s Barra powered Fairmont that ran 370hp on Sunday morning.
Michael Silk's Datsun 1200 Wagon was one of the most impressive of the weekend, with the SR-powered machine laying out an impressive 1077hp at 10,500rpm thanks to the Nissan Neo VVL head. We caught up with Michael Silk to chat all things Datto - so be sure to check that out here.
All in all it was a mega weekend with some incredible cars showing off what they can do. A huge thanks has to go out to MPW Performance and the crew for all their hard work over the event and of course the legends at Haltech for making it all possible.
