VIDEO: Rod Shop Ferrari-Swapped Torana plus WARBIRD Walk-Around

JBens was lucky enough to catch up with Heath Waddington from the Castlemaine Rod Shop at MotorEx 2023 to have a chat about their awesome stand, the Ferrari-swapped Holden Torana and one of the most famous burnout cars on the planet, WARBIRD.

Heath gave us some big insight into WARBIRD and how it all came about. The car was chopped up from its original state, which had actually already had a Windsor V8 swap, and then was fitted with a Dodge Viper V10 engine with two turbos attached - that combo is now history. Those who have seen WARBIRD in the last few years (perhaps on Cleetus McFarland’s YouTube channel) would know all too well that it has been running a blown V8 for quite some time - and doesn’t it sound insane.

If you’ve ever been within ear’s reach of WARBIRD at a burnout event you’ll know it rattles your skull once on throttle - check out the video to also see a clip of Barry Hall smashing tyres down Summernats Skid Row in January. After checking out WARBIRD JBens and heath moved onto the very impressive Rod Shop merchandise stand - Heath tells us this element of the business has grown into quite a sizeable part of the business in the last few years.

And last but not least the guys did a walk-around the once Big Block Chev Torana that now sports a Ferrari V12 engine - watch the video to find out exactly how Heath got his hands on the Italian-crafted donk.

The boys are working hard to get the Torana fired up in the near future, so keep an eye (and ear) out for that. Click play on the video below and don’t forget to subscribe to Performance Garage for more of the latest awesome automotive videos.
