Mackay Motor Show 2023

This year’s 30th anniversary Mackay Motor Show was massive with record numbers through the gate. Who would believe it’s the middle of winter with weather like we had over the two days.

The Mackay Rod and Custom Club have put on an outstanding show over the two days, seeing a lot of high-end elite cars from this year’s Meguiar’s MotorEx on display. One stood out, taking a clean sweep of first place awards and that was Mackay’s hometown resident Dan Morton’s Ford XY Fairmont ‘FORGED’. Taking out People’s Choice was Peter Lewis’ ‘BOSS XC’, the stunning award-winning XC Falcon.

There were four new unveils over the weekend, one of them snapping up the Meguiar’s Superstars invite; Bob Briggs in his knockout Blue 1929 Ford Tudor. The other three invites went to Mike Davison in his 1954 Chevrolet, Peter Lewis with his XC Falcon and Steve Wilkes’ insane gunmetal grey VL Walkinshaw. Alongside the elite vehicles was an epic display of classic cruisers, street machines and some very cool old school bikes.

This event was the perfect outing for any family, with free kids entertainment, rides, all types of food vendors, pin-up comp and live music from open to close all weekend. This show keeps growing every year with an impressive bitumen pad laid for the Go-To-Whoa track - this was a massive crowd pleaser with loads of smoke and driver skill.

Who doesn’t love a bit of action from street machines and hot rods in a safe environment while surrounded by show cars, families, and a great vibe.
