THIS MODIFIED TESLA CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT MODIFIED TESLAS

Finally, an electric vehicle that doesn’t look like a computer mouse!

I’ve penned a few articles recently that probably made me sound like some anti-EV dinosaur, and while there are sprinklings of truth to that statement the reality is that I just like cool cars, and this is officially a cool car, regardless of what’s powering it.

Built by David Andreyev the Cyber_Hooligan, the Cyber Roadster is his handcrafted vision of what a Tesla based sports car could look like, but the customised electric vehicle is not his first foray into the world of custom cars.

Andreyev chopped a Toyota Prius to create a scaled down homage to the Cybertruc that, from the front, was fairly convincing. From the side it bore more resemblance to a bare-bodied side-by-side all terrain vehicle, but the good news is that the Cyber Roadster build is far more complete.

Starting with a dual motor Model 3, Andreyev has changed just about every panel on the car including building custom bumpers, chopping the roof, reshaping the quarter panels and modifying the bonnet as well as building a swooping rear roof, under which sits dual light up canisters as a tribute to the mid-engined supercars the Cyber Roasters borrows much of its styling from.

The car is currently awaiting paint and trim to be completed, but the extent of the project combined with the fact that Andreyev doesn’t have any formal trade skills in the automotive field is supremely impressive.

Of course, cutting up a vehicle like this isn’t a new concept. For decades, American Corvette enthusiasts have been de-shelling their vehicles and building custom ‘Vette Karts’, perhaps the first of which was the C4 Corvette that Hot Rod Magazine chopped up in 2010.

Famously, Cleetus McFarland built his Leroy C5 Corvette in the same fashion (though he’s currently building a custom fibreglass body to drape over the caged chassis), while locally, the Street Machine team took the Sawzall to a Ford Territory to build the ‘Toxic Avenger’ for Carnage.
