Ben Bolton doesn't mind doing things his own way, as his wild twin-charged Cortina burnout car OVERKILL will attest. Previously powered by a twin turbo and supercharged small block V8, the Cortina is now powered by roots-blown Barra six-cylinder with twin war whistles hanging off it. It has to be one of the most unique engine combinations in the burnout scene today.
However, a quick trawl through the OVERKILL Facebook page reveals that Ben has a penchant for absurdity, and has quite the collection of eccentric vehicles!
His most recent purchase caught our eye - a green and gold Capri drag car dragged out of hiding in Victoria, but it wasn’t the blown, back-halfed Capri that has us captivated - it was the awesome tow truck Ben was dragging it home with!
Starting life as an Austin truck, and appearing to be around mid-50s in vintage, the tricked out toy hauler boasts a swathe of custom mods including louvering, wheel spats and other hot rod touches like the retrofitted grille.
With the bed converted to a low-slung ramp, the Austin was repowered by a Barra (we’re starting to think Ben has an affinity for the Ford six-pot!).
As well as the Austin and the Cortina, the Capri race car we mentioned boasts a 1000hp blown Ford small block, while for street duties he’s got a particularly cool looking white Capri with a single turbo small block that makes just under 400hp at the wheels - what a collection!
