From Friday night till Sunday arvo, the Old School Carralbyn 1/8th mile drags, and man what a weekend it was. All vehicles were pre-1968 and they used the old Kooralbyn Air Strip, just like the American’s used to back in the '50s and '60s, kicking off the weekend with a good old cracklefest, dinner, and of course a rock’n’roll band to get the party started.
Saturday was about getting out and about on an early poker run before returning to a lunch on the strip itself! Entrants could then get in a test and tune before a dinner to settle the nerves before race day.
The big day is Sunday where all the fun happens. Everyone that’s not already at the airfield flocks in for the show and shine, filling both sides of the staging lanes. Good old school grudge racing happens all day from some epic old style gassers, cool home-built racers, and some stunning show car animals!
There was plenty of food from the 11 food trucks on site all weekend and a must-have bar as soon as you get in the gate. If you managed to spot them, Hiltz Auto Co's own ‘Bad Chad’ and his amazing partner Jolene made a guest appearance over the weekend.
This was the perfect day out event with such a cool vibe that made you feel like you were back in the Golden Era. If you didn’t know about the event before you better pencil it in for the next one!
