Honda K-Swapped Toyota 86 Achieves Maximum Internet Points!

Save some e-fame for the rest of us!

The Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ collab’ spawned one of the greatest tuner vehicles of the modern age, with the aftermarket rushing to solve the greatest issue bred into the co-badged two door - where was all the horsepower?

It stopped and turned just like a car should, but the underwhelming engine package simply couldn’t get out of its own way. The only thing fast about the experience of owning one was how quickly the owners could come up with excuses for the car’s dismal performance, relying heavily on the absurd claim that sports car ownership isn’t about outright power, it’s about how connected the chassis, suspension and steering systems all are.

Bullshit.

The aftermarket rose to the occasion - first with deafening cat back exhaust systems and then ultimately with forced induction solutions and even stroker motors to maximize the potential of the Boxer engine.

The fact remains that the best 86/BRZs on the planet all have engine swaps - 2JZs and LS swaps all get our green tick of approval, but Oscar Jackson Jr’s K-swapped 86 piqued our interest. Recently completed and debuted at GRIDLIFE at the iconic Laguna Seca raceway, the ‘K86’ saw its first track time at the event after only a month in the build!

The 86 is unashamedly set up for circuit racing, with a cage and a slew of exotic APR goodies including a carbon fibre splitter, mirrors and wing taking a ton of weight out of the Toyota coupe.

A quick peruse of Jackson’s Instagram reveals that it’s not his first flirtation with the Honda badge, having spent some time in the seat of a Civic Type R as well as a neat S2000 street car. Jackson Racing is the family’s racing operation and speed parts business, offering aftermarket bits for circuit racing and side-by-sides.
