Historic Barossa Junkyard Dudleys Closes For Good

In Adelaide’s north there is a gold mine of classic and vintage car parts from every make and model you can imagine, however, it’s now the end of an era for Dudleys.

The legend ‘Dudley’ has been collecting cars and parts for decades. There are acres filled with wrecks as far as the eyes could see. He was quite the collector and had each section of paddocks divided into the makes of vehicle from Holden, Ford, Euro, etc.

Everyone that has been through those gates knows that when you see Dudley himself sitting at the front counter, if you ask him for a part on any car, he could tell you which paddock to go to and which car would be next to that car.

Considering the paddocks and paddocks of cars, he was always bang on. This diverse collection was his pride and joy and it was awesome he let everyone enjoy it also.

Before the days of the trading post and internet marketplaces, Saturday mornings from 8.30am till midday is where we used to go hunting for car parts from custom builds and restorations of our shed builds.

Earlier this year sadly the great man passed and now the good body shells and spare parts will be auctioned off and over two thousand will be crushed. The final days are coming to a head with gates set to close by the end of October - you will find the property on the corner of Schrapel and Heintze Rd, Koonunga.

This is just a stone’s throw off Truro Rd and the Thiele HWY, this will be the last opportunity you will have to rescue those parts that are going to be very hard to find again.

This is a very sad loss for the Barossa community in many ways than just one. Respect to Dudley, the man who was part of our many years growing up in the classic and resto world!
