If you needed to do a double take to figure out why this C10 was rolling down the streets of Southern California with the driver on the right hand side, don't worry, it’s got plenty of Americans scratching their heads too! The C10 is the project of certified automotive anarchist Shawn Creswell, whose mantra of ‘because I wanted to’ permeates every square inch of this build.
Originally sourced from a logging company, Shawn admits he was drawn to the vehicle because of its natural patina - every dent and ding along with the sun ravaged paint earned from decades of hard service in the field. He knew almost instantly that he wanted it slung low, so he hand built a chassis and decked it out with air suspension to give the Chevy plenty of attitude.
The car debuted with a naturally aspirated engine but Shawn has since added a blower to the 454 cube big block. It sits in a sheet metal engine bay, with the radiator relocated to the tray, and with a built Turbo 700 he estimates the power to sit around a healthy 650hp - enough to knock the rear tyres off, and make so much racket in the cabin that Shawn and his co-pilot communicate via an on-board radio system!
The Chevy is one of the most unique builds we’ve seen of late, and reminds us very much of the ethos behind the OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Challenge - build your car to suit your taste, then drive the wheels off it!
