Ferrari F40 Gathering At Fiorano Is Insane To See

The Ferrari F40 is an automotive icon - it was the pioneer of series-production cars to break the 200 miles per hour mark. It is also the final road-worthy Ferrari personally endorsed by Enzo Ferrari himself.

While not as scarce as its predecessors, the 288 GTO and successor F50, the F40 is a true collector's Ferrari. A total of 1311 units were made between 1987 and 1992, with 213 finding their way to the USA. How many in Australia? Well, we know of a few but there's not many.

Ferrari itself recognized just how iconic these cars have become by gathering no less than 40 at the iconic Pista di Fiorano, the very track where the F40 was honed into a corner-carving marvel.

Witnessing 40 of these legends together at such a historic venue for Ferrari was nothing short of a spectacle. You can see for yourself in the video below.

The F40's valuation hinges on various factors including its vintage, mileage, and ownership history. For instance, Ferrari made notable modifications after the first 50 cars, replacing sliding Plexiglass windows with roll-down glass.

In the North American version, rubber fuel tanks were swapped for aluminum ones. Meanwhile, Fiat Chairman Gianni Agnelli commissioned an F40 with an electronically operated clutch, delivering gear shifts in a swift 100 milliseconds.

Although never intended for right-hand drive, this didn't deter the Sultan of Brunei from commissioning Pininfarina to convert his F40. Some of his cars even boasted luxurious leather interiors borrowed from the flat-12 Testarossa. Check out the video below.

In the late 80’s and early 90’s teenage boys had wet dreams about this car! No driving aids, an actual race car on the road (virtually). The one I want is the one gifted to Mansell. Early sliding window type. The Turkey sold it almost straight away for a million quid, a gift from Enzo! I’d take it, LM convert, upgrade, change and devalue it, and basically de-Mansell it, remove the collectibility it gained only from that ingrates name.
