After spending three years building his 355ci nitrous-assisted LC Torana coupe with a ¾ chassis Giuseppe Natoli says he drives it everywhere.

“It all started in 2010” says 28 year old mechanical fitter Giuseppe Natoli. “I was sitting on my doorstep looking over the new 6-point roll-cage in my VP Commodore whilst thinking ‘what the hell am I doing?’ All my mates were playing with old-school cars and here I was playing with a Commodore”.

“Two weeks later the Commodore was on eBay and a not-so-healthy LC coupe was on a truck on its way to my home. From there on I spent the next 12 months welding and grinding the night away” getting the bodyshell ready for a Top Notch Race Cars ¾ chassis, custom 4-link rear end and safety cage.

“Everyone would leave my garage thinking the car wouldn’t see the light of day but now I drive it as much as I can from shopping to dinner, even to the morning gym session; it goes everywhere”.

Giuseppe put the car through the box-ticking process necessary to regain road rego, although the car is presented here in track mode with its nitrous bottle, dumped exhaust and big-and-little tyres.

The car’s ability to stop was one of the boxes that needed ticking for rego. “It was a 40deg day when the engineer decided it was time for the brake test. Myself and my mates Sami and TJ had no hope in the car passing the test. I remember TJ sweating severely since he was the one who set up the brakes, but what do you know we all walked away smiling after the car passed easily”.

Meanwhile the tough 355ci Holden V8 engine was built by Zoran and Bobby at Competition Engines. The combination features a re-machined 308ci block, ported VN-onwards cast iron heads, and a number of aftermarket goodies including a solid cam.

“After three years of solid work I wasn’t even the first person who got to take the car out” laments Giuseppe. “My good mate Sami was the first to take her out which he still regularly does; ‘til we finish his car that is”.

Giuseppe’s 355ci nitrous-assisted LC Torana coupe is featured in issue 130 of Extreme Action magazine, available now.
