10 Reasons To Head To Rockynats 03 This Easter

Queensland's coolest car festival, Rare Spares Rockynats is just 50 days away (at the time of writing) and is set to be the ultimate long weekend of horsepower action. Rockynats will run for the third time this Easter long weekend (April 7-9) and this time it promises to be the biggest yet.

If you really needed any more persuasion here are 10 reasons why you won't want to miss this epic event.

Celebration Of All Things Cars

Rare Spares Rockynats 03 is a car festival that celebrates the love and passion for all types of cars, whether it be old school Aussie Holden and Fords, crazy custom hot rods, iconic American tanks or boosted up imports from the 90s, Rockynats showcases an impressive display of custom and modified vehicles from all over the country.

Burnouts By The River

A staple at any 'Nats event, the burnouts will run hot all weekend long set on the banks of the Fitzroy River (which we've been told is full of crocs). Some of Australia's best tyre frying machines will be there, all vying for a spot at Summernats 36. Our current national champion, Jake Myers, won at Rockynats 02 in S1CKO which secured his spot at Summernats 35 (which we won first place).

The Biggest Street Parade Of It's Kind In Australia

Rare Spares Rockynats is home to the biggest street parade of its kind in the country, with well over 1000 cars and bikes making their way through Rockhampton CBD. It's one of the greatest displays of cars we've ever seen, with anything and everything joining in for the good vibe cruise. Pick a spot and you'll be there for hours marvelling at the cars as they cruise through. You seriously can't miss it!

Street Drag Racing

One of the most popular events at Rockynats is the street drags. It's the nation's first true street-built 1/8th mile drag strip, where some of Australia's coolest cars and bikes will race down the public road. It's a proper no-prep track, and some real fast machinery gets down to party which makes for some excellent viewing. There's even a pub right on the corner, so even if you aren't racing, this is one of the best places to check out some of the action (and have a sneaky beer or four).

The Elite Hall

Another must-see attraction of the show is the elite hall. Webby and Rach spend months hand selecting some of the best rides to park up on display in the elite hall at the showgrounds. We've seen Summernats Grand Champions, Meguiar's Superstars and more in here so the quality is as good as it gets. We can't wait to see what they've got in store for us this year!

Unveil Cars

Also to look forward to in the elite hall is the unveiling of a bunch of brand new elite level builds. Going off the quality of cars from the last two shows, this year is going to be special. These cars are also hand-picked, and are genuinely some of the best cars in the country. It's a real treat to get to see these cars for the first time ever live in the flesh, and hearing from the owners who've spent plenty of time and money to complete these builds is some fantastic insight for any car fan.

Get Sideways With Drift Cadet

Our mates at Drift Cadet have run the Drifting Precinct at Rockynats since it started, and it's by far one of the most popular places to stop and hang out over the weekend. High profile drivers from around Australia will put on a wild display all weekend long in the lower Victoria Parade carpark, right on the river. You can even jump in for a hot-lap with the crew - just go see the friendly Drift Cadet staff to book in your spot.

SWL Racing 4x4 Zone

SWL Racing owner and driver Dave Casey is back for Rare Spares Rockynats 03. The team will be showcasing some of the best rigs in the country in the CBD Precinct. Ranging from hardcore off-road to stadium supertrucks and everything in between, this is the place to be for any mad four-wheel drive fanatic.
