World's Fastest H-Pattern Car Goes Compound Turbo

When your 2000hp six-second Supra just isn’t fast enough, simply throw another turbo at it.

Florida’s Grannas Racing already lay claim to the world’s fastest H-pattern/stick shift manual vehicle, with their wild 2JZ-powered Supra covering the quarter mile in a blistering 6.69sec at 221mph.

However, the team recently debuted a wild compound turbo setup for the vehicle that’s sure to propel the infamous ‘Orange Man Bad’ JZA80 to blistering new heights.

The upgrade joins a host of new parts for the H-pattern warrior, including a higher compression 3.2L 2JZ stroker bottom end stuffed inside a billet block.

Hanging off the head is a Precision Turbo 6670 Next Gen turbo, with the Precision 9808 ProMod that previously had the JZA80 storming to glory in a single turbo configuration relocated behind the headlight.

The plumbing and management of the compound turbo arrangement is a work of art in itself, and we’re not just talking about the pie cut welds! Exhaust gasses are controlled by no less than three wastegates scattered throughout the hot side set up that can divert exhaust gasses away from the smaller turbo almost entirely to the large frame 9808, allowing the team to manage power more effectively.

Power has obviously never been a problem for the crew, instead the compound turbo set up aims to bring power in earlier allowing them to find some time in the first sixty feet of the track, improving their overall ET, as well as keep the car on boost between gear shifts down the track.
