 As the days get shorter and the weather grows colder, fans of drag racing nationwide prepare themselves to hibernate as the season comes to a close. Fortunately these guys go out with a bang and with the close of the 2011/2012 ANDRA Pro Series this weekend comes the 45th annual Fuchs Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway! This is the biggest drag racing event in the southern hemisphere and of course, Performance Garage will be there bringing you the action live across the entire weekend.

This is a seriously big event and some of the biggest names in drag racing will be there doing their thing, with a couple of them turning up early for a meet and great with their fans this morning at the Hyperdome in Loganholme, Queensland.

Phil Lamittina was there with his mid 4-second Top Fuel Dragster...

Kicking back for a chat with a couple of the locals and signing some signatures while he was at it.

National record holder John Zappia was also in attendance, more than happy to fire up his 3000hp+ Monaro and send the rumble of a real engine throughout the shopping centre.

He will be fighting hard to keep the crown as the quickest doorslammer in the country this weekend and there will be no shortage of competition!

This was one of the rare opportunities that allowed people to get up close and personal with some of the quickest cars in the country, key Staunch Racing crew members Jaki and little guy Yanni taking full advantage.

We are just itching to see these guys out there going for gold in a great weekend of drag racing.
