Peter Champion’s collection of Brocky beasts is easily the most extensive in the country and one that up until recently was open to the public.
Champions Brock Experience served as a museum that preserved the memory of a racing legend and allowed people to get up close to the cars he created.
Unfortunately, the venture simply wasn’t profitable and Peter decided it would be best to shut the doors of his collection, returning it to a private love affair.
I was as saddened by this decision as you all would have been so after coming across a couple of behind the scenes photos, I thought it best to share these pristine pieces of motorsport history.
This photo shoot comes from one of the interstate journeys that Peter's collection regularly undertakes to receive a touch up at the HDT workshop.
Present of course was one of the Big Banger VKs, a car that brought out Brock’s best.
Also available made available to us was the HDT HT Monaro GTS 350 that Brock shared with Des West back in the day.
The third and final car there was the No. 05 LH Torana L34, a car in which Brock drove in his return to the Holden Dealer Team in 1978 and proved himself to be their top driver at the Sandown 500 Enduro.
These three cars are immaculately presented despite their age, due largely to the care Peter takes with his collection as a whole.
It really is a shame that this is no longer open to the public, with it's indefinite closure continuing into the foreseeable future.
That being said, with a bit of support shown on his website who knows what could happen!
