With the recent launch of the MCA Suspensions blog we have been given a sneak peak at what Josh Coote has been working on for his next drift project; an absolutely insane 370Z!
The Tsunami in Japan left thousands of cars severely water damaged, one of which was this 370Z.
Hearing that it was up for sale through Paul Williamson at Option1Garage, Josh realised that it would make the perfect base for a drift car with a difference.
Josh and the rest of the MCA team have never been known to do things by half measures and the new Z is no exception.
The custom work that has already gone into this car in the early stages of the build sets it apart from the majority of competitive drift cars in Australia.
It’s pretty rare to see the Nissan VK56DE as a transplant engine and as such, Josh has had to get a bit creative when setting it up for a performance purpose. For those unfamiliar the VK56 is a 5.6L all-alloy quad-cam V8 from the Nissan Titan; a massive ute built for the US market. Nissan have also put it to work in their GT1 R35 GT-R.
As these were only produced with an auto ‘box hanging off the back Josh has had to create a custom flywheel and bell housing adaptor to suit a bulletproof Holinger manual.
He’s really not afraid to get stuck into large billets to make the necessary parts that simply aren’t available off the shelf, like the dry sump pan that incorporates engine mounts in the pics below.
A lot of work has gone into this modern Z-car but there is still a heap to go, all of which will be documented on Josh’s new blog as well as the MCA Suspensions Facebook page.
We’ll be hovering over the refresh button, keen to see this thing hopefully finished for WTAC and blowing minds alongside their Time Attack S13. We suggest you do the same!
