The Tuthill Porsche 911K Brings 11,000rpm Goodness (video)

When one thinks of classic sports cars, the Porsche 911 undeniably occupies a special place in the hall of fame. But the Tuthill Porsche 911K isn't just any 911 — it's a tribute to tenacity, tradition, sheer engineering prowess and a whopping 11,000rpm.

If you're a Porsche nut like many of us petrol-heads are around the world, you'll surely be aware of the name Richard Tuthill. Richard was an all out rally driving wizard, before he progressed from his rallying career to run his family business — which now builds some of the worlds best Porsches. Enter, the Porsche 911K.

It's an out and out monster, boasting 11,000rpm, 350bhp at the wheels and a weight of only 850kg. While it bears the classic silhouette of the quintessential 911, the 911K is re-engineered for a contemporary racing world. Beneath its nostalgic exterior lies a powerhouse drive train that's reliable, robust, and ready to roar.

The 911K uses a 3.1-litre four-valve engine that puts out an astonishing noise as the engine spins up towards 11,000rpm. It's got a stack of carbon-fibre and titanium goodies throughout to keep the car as light and engaging as possible. It's finished to an insane level, and there will only ever be a small series of these ever made. (Anyone that gets their hands on one of these is onto a good thing!)

“There are so many great people in the world building amazing Porsche 911s it's sometimes quite daunting to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in,” says Richard.

“That said, my experience over the last few years, when combined with an extremely enthusiastic and supportive friend and client, was enough to do exactly that.

“This one is for the drivers and quite honestly, I never imagined it could ever be what it has already become, and we’ve only just started.

“Weight is always king and the fun of driving a lightweight car when combined with what I believe to be the most exciting engine I have ever experienced and a chassis that gives one unrivalled compliance on wonderfully diverse backroads has redefined what I thought was possible.”

The legendary Chris Harris just got a chance to test one of these bad boys out, and from the impressions he gave - we reckon it'd be an absolute one of a kind experience to get behind the wheel of Richard's latest creation. Check it and crank that volume!
