Summernats 35 Meguiar's Superstars Qualifiers

Street Machine Summernats 35 showcased Australia's best cars. The standout qualifiers for Meguiar's Superstars were Mike Davison's '54 Chevrolet Bel Air, Matt McIntosh's '72 Holden HQ Statesman, Peter Lewis' '77 Ford Falcon 'BOSSXC', Brett Hewerdine's '49 Ford Coupe, Adam Kruger's '67 Ford Mustang, and Ricky Absolom's '32 Ford Roadster.

Street Machine Summernats 35 is run and done for another year, with the best cars from across the country showing up for the four day festival. With a stack of elite rides on show, the judging team had the tough job of selecting just six qualifiers for the Meguiar's Superstars competition at Meguiar's MotorEx later in the year. The six qualifiers are: Mike Davison with his '54 Chevrolet Bel Air, Matt McIntosh with his '72 Holden HQ Statesman, Peter Lewis with his '77 Ford Falcon, Brett Hewerdine with his '49 Ford Coupe, Adam Kruger with his '67 Ford Mustang, and Ricky Absolom with his '32 Ford Roadster.

Mike Davison's '54 Chevrolet Bel Air is a true masterpiece, with its sleek lines and classic design. Built by the crew at Pat's Pro Resto's, the Bel Air had the covers lifted off on Thursday night at Summernats, showcasing the incredible work underneath. Davison's attention to detail is evident in the car's stunning paint job and gleaming chrome trim. It's not just all for looks either, as the Chev sports a 406 cubic-inch Dart engine built by Darren Morgan Racing, with a 6-71 Dyer Supercharger running 18lb boost.

Next up is Matt McIntosh's twin-turbo small block Holden HQ Statesman, a car that really turned heads with its striking engine bay, killer stance (thanks to some lows tucking massive rose gold Simmons) and wild elite finish. Webby and his judging crew must have liked it, as the tough stato took home Top Judged, Top Engineered, Top Undercarriage and Driveline, Top Bodywork, Top Engine Bay, and Top Pro Custom, plus an invite to Meguiar's MotorEx come May 6-7.

Peter Lewis' '77 Ford Falcon 'BOSSXC' must have been one of the most anticipated cars at Summernats. Built by street machining legend Howard Astill, the XC Falcon has undergone an extensive build, documented on Howard's YouTube channel. The build blends new and old perfectly, complete with a full FG Falcon interior with all the modern bells and whistles, whilst retaining the look and feel of an old-school street machine. It's no surprise this car took home the Meguiar's people's choice award at Summernats 35, and we can't wait to see how it fares at MotorEx.

Brett Hewerdine's 'Hell Bent Red' 1949 Ford Coupe was a striking new unveil at Summernats 35. Like most cars that come out of the ProFlo Performance stable, Brett's Ford has a killer stance and a wild engine combo to match. The Coupe sports a mega 600-cube big-block Chev fitted with a Littlefield 14/71 blower, and a manualised Turbo 400 and custom fabricated nine-inch diff in the back. The rear end of the car tucks some absolutely huge 22x12 Schott Wheels and was a real crowd favourite at the event.

Adam Kruger's '67 Ford Mustang is another classic that is sure to turn heads. The Mustang has undergone a full restoration, with a bunch of body modifications to give this Mustang a one of a kind elite finish. The sleek black paint and the massive 22x10 wheels at the back really set this off as a top-end streeter.

Last but not least is Ricky Absolom's latest build, a '32 Ford Roadster. The car has undergone a full restoration, and its classic design and stunning paint job drew crowds all weekend long.

All six of these cars are true works of art and their owners should be proud to have qualified for the Meguiar's Superstars competition at Meguiar's MotorEx later in the year. It's sure to be a tough competition, with so many impressive cars and talented builders vying for the top spot, but one thing is for sure, it will be a show not to be missed. Meguiar's MotorEx is back at the Melbourne Showgrounds May 6-7, 2023. Tickets and entries are on sale now.
