Scott's 1200HP Blown Holden HQ Monaro CANSKD

Scott’s Holden HQ Monaro is built to smash tyres. Scott works in the car industry and knows full well that when you drive cars hard they can get quite messy. That’s why CANSKD is more no frills for more thrills.

Scott laughs you have to be blown to be known, which would explain why there’s a 14/71 Littlefield blower strapped to a Dart BIG M 598ci Big Block Chev. The combo is good for an effortless 1200hp. Given plenty of skids are on the agenda for this Monaro, the more horsepower the better.

The gearbox is a Powerglide that was removed from a drag car. In the rear is a nine-inch diff with Moser axles. Scott tells us that it’s quite a bulletproof setup (so far).

HQ Monaro was Scott’s dream car his entire life. Like most, he couldn’t afford one right away when he got his licence, but biding his time one eventually came up that was sitting in a farm and the rest is history.

“It’s loud, it’s obnoxious, it gets the attention. It’s good advertising for my business. It’s just built for fun really."

Just before Summernats the HQ Monaro was given a freshen up, with new orange stripes on the menu. Scott says he’d originally wanted the entire body done in metallic orange but he stressed this being a skid car, white is the better option to keep it looking tidy.

The interior on Scott’s HQ Monaro is kept pretty basic, with loads of numberplates “covering up holes and the rust”. The front seats are from a Lexus, and the back seat is standard HQ Monaro. The EMS dash and computer let Scott know what’s going on with the vitals, which is always handy when you’re belting into a blown Big Block Chev.

Though the car was originally built in a month, Scott has planned to add tubs because he’s got intentions to race it at some stage, and tidy the interior back to original HQ. That said, he stated it’ll be staying as is until something blows up. Long live skid cars.
