Ricciardo Claims P7 as Verstappen Wins Mexico City Grand Prix

Daniel Ricciardo has claimed a P7 points finish at the Mexican Grand Prix, as Verstappen takes his 16th win of the 2023 season.

Danny Ric has snagged himself six championship points after converting his blistering P4 qualifying run into a P7 points finish after a red flag interrupted Mexican Grand Prix. The Aussie managed to stay out of trouble throughout both starts and manage his pace over the 71 lap race, almost clinching P6 from Mercedes driver George Russell on the final lap.

This marks the best result of the season for the Italian AlphaTauri outfit, who have had four different drivers this year. It comes at a perfect time for Daniel, who is working towards claiming the second Red Bull seat from Sergio Perez, who retired after a turn one incident with Charles Leclerc.

Dutch driver Max Verstappen sailed to victory, finishing over 15 seconds clear of Lewis Hamilton who claimed P2 over Charles Leclerc in P3. Max has claimed his 16th win of the season, setting a new record for most race wins in a single season.

Daniel's fellow AlphaTauri driver Yuki Tsunoda fell out of the points after a shunt with McLaren's Oscar Piastri, and unfortunately finished in P14. Daniel's six points claimed at the Mexican Grand Prix have proved to be crucial, moving the outfit into P8 in the constructors championship after spending majority of the season at the bottom of the table.
