The weather tried its best but nothing could stop 1000 die-hard petrol heads from hitting the track at Powercruise #41 for a weekend of off-street shenanigans, burnouts, Powerskids, drifting and more. Check out the pics and vids from the weekend here!
GIZMOE is the perfect plate for this AMC Gremlin and you better believe it's an untamed beast. With more than 600hp of blown V8 up front, this is perfect Powercruise material.
"Who's up?" is the question being asked of this cool Corolla sedan but would you have the guts to answer knowing that it packs blown big block Chevrolet power?
The Forza Mechanical Repairs & Performance team are always well represented at Powercruise and have no problem destroying their fair share of tyres.
When the crowd moves into position and fills the roof above turn one you know it must be time for the Powerskids - easily the event's biggest drawcard.
Mick's blown Ford-powered AMC sedan is a Powercruise regular. His effort in the Powerskids never goes unnoticed.
HANFUL made the long trip down from QLD for Powercruise and is an obvious crowd favourite, especially when the rain comes down.
WHOSUP was everywhere including sideways!
Craig's CUTSIK Commodore never misses a beat and it's on the front straight at Sydney Motorsport Park where it's most at home.
On the street this might look like any other tray-back Holden workhorse but at Powercruise and with those numberplates it's pretty clear that there's a lot more going on than meets the eye.
Two stand-out cars from Powercruise #41 were this pair of turbocharged monsters. NITTO is the infamous Mercury Motorsport demo car that uses 1000hp and AWD to race all-comers in the cruise sessions and in the drags. Nathan's RX-3 uses its twin-turbo 427ci LSX to melt faces! Oh, it also runs 8.0 @ 177mph on radial tyres!
Promo girls doing what promo girls do... something something...
Jabbot in the 3FingersNeat Silvia leads Cameron Mote in one of the hotly contested Powercruise drift battles.
Powercruise keeps on going rain, hail or shine and the crew know that the best way to dry a wet track is to get as many cars sweeping the water away as possible. Slow going but a shorter wait for track time to be sure.
While turbocharged six-cylinder VL's are a common sight at Powercruise, this pair used bent-eight motivation to light up our lenses.
Custom paint and bling wheels made this FD RX-7 stand out.
At first everyone wanted to race the mighty NITTO but once they'd seen it in action, that changed...
Tony had YLDTOY fired up and hopping. As well as a couple of seriously good skids, the Corolla was hopping and bouncing around, picking up the front wheels while turning the backs.
Subtle... not really. Not any more. But with skids like this, who cares?
Two of the toughest in the off street racing were this drag Capri and the only slightly more street-spec Van.
But at the end of proceedings it was the Powertunr GT-R that would win out. With 1000hp, street rubber and a manual transmission, it was great to see a genuine street car take the win against the drag-only competition.
The concentration of the Capri driver is apparent in this photo but he would have to settle for second place as the grooved slicks spun and the GT-R disappeared!
Another QLD driver who made the trip down was Damien McKern. Taking a break from driving his 7sec RX-2, Damien settled for steering his 800hp, air-conditioned old-school RX-7.
Burnouts in a C63 with CASHED numberplates... subtle.
It might not look like much but this white Mitsubishi Evo is packing an 1100hp 4G63.
YLDTOY entertained crowd and entrants alike with his spinning, flicking, skidding and hopping Corolla.
Backflip Clothing had some killer billboards.
Twin-turbo 408ci LSX meets blown and injected mental-case. Wow!
Mick Brasher doing what he does best - making tyres his bitch.
TYRH8R was one of the angriest and loudest cars to hit the burnout pad.

Hot-lapping your orange Lambo in the wet. Life's good.
