Left- Hook V8 Supercar

Between the swells of Porsche, BMW, Mercedes and other hi-po Western European exotica, the last thing one would expect to find in the sleepy town of Nurburg is a classic Australian Supercar, though somehow… Performance Garage did.

In what originally began life as a VN Group A Commodore race car here in Oz for the ’91 and ’92 season, before being converted to VP Commodore spec’ back in 1993, the old school V8 Supercar soon found its way into the welcoming hands of German, Holger Boemanns.

Once the VP was in Holger’s workshop – Boemanns Motorsport (which is located literally just down the road from the famed Nurburgring) – the dust could barely settle before ‘Holley’ gave the Supercar the kind of tender loving overhaul that would make The Biggest Loser contestants blush.

Gone was the old paint scheme for starters, with Holley having the entire shell lovingly laid in his trademark shade of green. Every single nut and bolt that could stand to be replaced was, with the complete shebang being freshened from bumper to bumper.

That’s not all, though. Holley even went to the trouble of converting the Supercar to Left Hand Drive, making it the only LHD V8 Supercar in the world! According to Holley, the Holdens hold a special place in a lot of the German’s hearts thanks to their power and sound, though Holley doesn’t race the VP much due to costs and the struggle to be competitive against some high-tech endurance competition.

Sadly though, Holley has decided to let the VP go and it is currently on its way back to our sun burnt country, to a pair of Australian buyers that would prefer to remain anonymous for the moment.

Bred in Australia, refined in Germany and brought back home – keep an eye out for the world’s only LHD Supercar on our shores soon.
