I'm sure we've all seen clips of the infamous Peel P50 on shows like Top Gear, but for those that haven't, it’s a three-wheeled microcar that was produced in the '60s in extremely limited numbers. Fast forward to 2010 and a new company began to produce them again with minor changes. The three-wheeler makes just about four horsepower from a 49-cc engine and has an incredible top speed of just 60kph. Some racecar.
While many of us dream of lapping the infamous green hell in some german rocket ship like a 992 GT3 RS, this YouTuber decided that the Peel P50 would be ample fun around the world's largest race track. And to be fair, it'd make for some pretty entertaining driving with just three wheels. Before the lap kicked off the crew showed just how easy it would be to roll one of these things, and with the Nurburgring's undulating track surface, it'd actually be pretty sketchy.
The little Peel P50 struggled in some of the climbing sections of the track as you'd imagine, and was on a knifes edge in a few places as it almost rolled itself a few times over. The driver, Max Fewtrell (former F3 racer) said it was the most on edge he has ever felt in a car. When it was all said and done, Max finished up with a whopping 25 minute lap time, that finished in the dark. It's a legitimately slower lap time than a Claas Xerion 5000 tractor, which achieved a 24:50 lap time.
