In addition to racing at this weekend’s October 7 NDRC Eastern Conference round of the Aeroflow National Sportsman Championship at Benaraby Dragway, Khoury just two weeks’ ago took a win at Mildura’s Sunset Nationals event (part of the Western Conference) and is also entered to go racing at Dragway at The Bend’s Spring Nationals in a few weeks’ time.
“I have been very fortunate to go drag racing all over this beautiful country of ours, while working my interstate motorcycle transport business,” Khoury said. "I wasn't able to make the first event in Darwin and then the second at Alice Springs was cancelled, so I have had to play catch up to get my season underway."
“I was lucky enough to come away with a win in Mildura and I have to say, I love that place, the whole team are fantastic and so accommodating. Now I am looking ahead to Benaraby and The Bend. I am keen to cover both the Eastern and the Western NDRC conferences – it is like double dipping for the Australian Championship, and I figure betters my odds in case I don’t do well in one or the other."
“To back up another Australian title would be an awesome and fantastic achievement for me, and who wouldn’t want to be the first National Championship winner of the new NDRC series?” he grinned.
Khoury has been racing for more than 20 years, and had been actively chasing a national championship for the last decade before breaking through in the 2022/2023 season. He says that so far, he is impressed with how the NDRC is evolving.
While Mildura has hosted Khoury many times, October 7 will mark the first time he has raced at Benaraby Dragway, while of course The Bend’s Spring Nationals will also mark a competitive debut at the brand-new track for the entire field.
The October 7 Aeroflow National Sportsman Series event at Benaraby Dragway will mark the latest Eastern Conference event of the championship chase. For further information, visit www.nationaldragracing.com.au
