Early next year for Summernats 36 Joe has a very tuff unveil car that will have punters drooling. Joe has been hands on working around the clock with his builder to bring this all together. With us not trying to give too much away, you might tell from his other toys just how epic this next build might be.
LOW FAT:
Whilst checking out the new unveil car we had a sneak peek into his garage - and what a collection! As soon as we walk in, we were blown away with his 1954 Divco 200 milk van ‘LOW FAT’. This four-cylinder van used to pull an almighty 47hp, now running a 383ci Chevy it pulls around 750hp which is insane when you see the size of this rig.
With a Turbo 400, fully floating nine-inch sheet metal diff and drilled/slotted disc brake upgrade all round it goes fast. Custom airbags help tuck the custom-made billet 20x20 rims wrapped in a thick set of 33x22 Mickey Thompsons.
Even more impressive on this massive frame is the two-toned champagne and tangerine House Of Kolor elite level paint job, divided by a custom airbrushed graphic the length of the body.
The interior is pretty spectacular with matching two toned leather upholstery, completely designed from scratch. Considering this milk van never came out factory with seats.
The driver back in the day never needed to sit during milk drops, just stand, deliver and drive.
You may remember seeing the milk van being unveiled at MotorEx many years ago after it took out a silver medal in body and paint awards. Joe uses the van regularly and even heads to the drive-in from time to time.
Shelby Cobra:
Two steps in the garage to the left and you run into a stunning 60s Shelby Cobra named ‘BATEC’. Built back in 2000 from the ground up on a custom fabricated chassis. The body has been widened on the front and the rear by three inches and wrapped in a custom blue metallic/pearl mix which has been flow-coated to seal off the stripes down the centre of the body and give that extreme depth.
Tucked away nicely in the rear wheel arches of this fibreglass body is an independent rear with very sticky 335x35 Pirelli tyres. This vintage weapon runs a 383ci stroker, supercharged LS Vortec, six-speed sequential box, coil front end, Viscous centre diff and a twin set of NOS bottles in the boot which are beautifully displayed.
“It runs on E85, I wanted to keep it pump fuel so I could use it more often as a streeter.”
The whole interior had a birthday just over a year ago with an eye-catching two-toned tan and black leather and custom race dash, to complement the whole build style. Over the last ten years Joe has spent many hours in the seat for circuit racing, still using it as a streetcar every other week.
Dodge Demon:
Joe’s 2018 Dodge Demon which is 1 of 3000 made that he bought as more of an investment, enjoying it from time-to-time - it has already been used as formal car! The Demon comes with an added bonus: they send out a specialised Dodge kit of spare parts with every purchase to increase the power as you wish.
Z50J Monkey Bike:
This little 1982 Z50J Monkey Bike is super rare and is hiding in the back of the garage awaiting a restoration, he might even consider bringing it to a future Dust Hustle event. “These Hondas are great they can sit around for years and just start up straight away. We have many years of fun still in this original old girl.”
HK Holden Sedan:
Joe only just purchased this Silver Mink HK Holden sedan - it has everything he needs to put it back together. It has had a complete nut and bolt resto on a rotisserie, running an LS with ten-bolt rear, this will be a really comfy street cruiser with a re-trimmed calypso red interior, including a cool old skool bench seat. We took a stroll up to Joe’s purpose made viewing platform to get a closer look at what is on the impressive double four-poster hoist - the platform and hoist was impressive in itself!
1937 Chevy Pickup:
This 1937 Chevy Pickup shares both Chevy and Holden components. This a six-cylinder, four-speed now set up with a Rod-Tech front end and it’s very hardy on the property. Joe has also made a custom tipper tray for the truck for when they move bails of hay around the farm. Being the second owner of this pick-up Joe decided to Patina the whole truck to make it his own.
1969 VF Valliant:
This 1969 Chrysler Valliant runs a twin-turbo small block that produces just over 1000hp on 98 fuel. This drag-ready Val was pulled out of a paddock in 1998 and given a full restoration. With a set of mini tubs and 18-inch-wide tyres, this thing would really stick to the track.
Joe sure has a unique collection of cars, and the new build will sure stun the crowds at Summernats 36!
