Whenever a new model is released in Japan, the various aftermarket heavyweights face-off and at the moment, the R35 race is really heating up. Enter the Trust R35RX GT-R.
Trust has always been at heads with HKS in Japan, the two giants forever trying to out-do each other.
With the R35RX, Trust has effectively trumped HKS’s GT800 kit, ramping power up to a massive 1200hp.
GReddy USA worked on the GR43 stroker kit while Trust in Japan pieced it all together for the unveil earlier this year.
The plan was to make 300hp over the 900hp the GReddy demo R35 was making in the States, which meant bigger, beefier turbos and a lot of redevelopment under-hood.
The set-up is designed for big circuits like Fuji, with this car already pushing 325.9km/h down the straight thanks to the skills of Tarzan Yamada.
But it’s the body kit that’s the biggest drawcard, a monster from Osaka aero specialist BenSopra. Replacing almost every panel on the car, it retails for a crazy $50,000 in Japan.
There are, of course, many more sights to see, like the Endless Racing mono-block brakes that include 400mm discs up front.
In terms of R35s from Japan, this is probably the wildest out there.
The kit alone just boggles the mind, with the entire front end of the car folding forward to allow easy access to the engine.
Overall, this is a serious contender from Trust. Let’s hope tuners like HKS, Jun and Phoenix strike back even bigger. Read the full story on the R35RX in issue 149 of Performance Imports, out 22/06.
