Inside V8 Supercar Workshop

Inside V8 Supercar Workshop

Over the weekend the V8 Supercar team Tekno Autosports hosted their annual open day at their impressive headquarters in Stapylton, Queensland.

Opening their doors for the second year in a row, the Tekno team put on exclusive behind the scenes tours of their hi-tech workshop and what goes into running a competitive V8 Supercar team out of it.

Team drivers Michael Patrizi (left) and Jonathon Webb (right) were in attendance, more than happy to meet their supporters and have a chat about all things motorsport.

These guys aren’t all about the action on track though, with a number of tough street cars on display demonstrating what the Tekno Performance road car engineering program can do.

Two of these on display were particularly interesting as they are Jonathon Webb’s street cars, each making north of 600hp!

Looks like he’s got a foot in both camps.

Numerous clubs such as the HSV Owners Club, Ford XR Club and Brisbane Commodore Car Club came out to support the event, entering the ‘Show and Shine’ in force despite the weather.

Entry was worth a $10 donation for Tour de Cure, with the open day as a whole helping to raise funds for cancer research.

A free sausage sizzle, drinks, prizes and giveaways were put on to keep everyone entertained and made for a fantastic atmosphere.

Girls from Misteag Promotions weaved their way throughout the crowd collecting gold coin donations for Tour de Cure and left with their buckets full.

We are constantly impressed by the generosity demonstrated by motoring enthusiasts, always happy to dig deep and support a worthy cause.

The rain may have put a dampener on the outdoor activities but spirits were still high, with everyone shuffling around inside and having a chat while checking out what was on display.

There were just so many interesting aspects of the workshop to look at that it was hard to figure out where to begin.

How often do you have the opportunity to not only get this close to a real V8 Supercar in the flesh but get to see it pulled right down to its bare bones?

All in all it was a great day whether you’re into motorsport or not. The Tekno team put a lot of effort into creating a family friendly and social atmosphere and in our opinion, it was a great success. Hopefully this event is something that they keep running and if it is, we’ll see you there next year!
