Harry's Sydney VL Meet

Harry's Sydney VL Meet

I’ll be perfectly honest with you when I say that it wasn’t the warmest of nights out at famous Sydney car haunt, Harry’s Cafe de Wheels in Liverpool.

Withstanding the nigh-on-arctic temperatures though, the VL meet up coordinated by the crew at calaisturbo.com.au brought out some of the neatest street VLs from the state of NSW, and some of the scenes most outrageous personalities.

The meet has been growing in popularity and organiser Jarrod Sweeny proudly told Street Commodores that at the peak of last night’s meet the crew attracted just shy of fifty VLs – a sight to behold for any VL fan.

Rolling in we saw the infamous beige VH of one Damien ‘Chubby’ Lowe who had heard of the meets and, not one to shy away from any gathering of modified vehicles (no less a Commodore meet) Damo’ rolled on down to check out what all the fuss was about.

It should come as no surprise that Anthony of Maatouks Racing made his presence felt at the meet. The car park was littered with tough VLs plastered with Maatouks livery, with the big man himself on hand to give the seal of approval to some of the neater cars at the event.

Ex-Street Commodores feature car EX HWY was on show looking as good as it did the day we shot it. Josh’s immaculate yellow over MX Grey BT1 is a prime example of a neat, street VL Turbo and with a recent switch to a big auto Josh is keen to explore the potential of the Maatouks-enhanced RB30ET set up.

Our good mate Jeremy from Brightline Fabrications was there with his range of stainless steel shrouds and covers to suit VLs and even brought out his immaculate SV88 for punters to ogle. We have to thank Jeremy, the consummate gentleman, for his rent-a-jumper business also.

If you’ve got a Sydney VL or, like me, are looking to live vicariously through other people’s VLs then keep an eye on calaisturbo.com.au for the next Sydney VL meet up, or one in your local area.
