Gary Myers To Skid S1CKO / GM176 At Summernats 35

What started as an idea has become a reality. Jake Myers (S1CKO Mustang) got the idea a few years ago to return the S1CKO ’66 Ford Mustang back to how it looked when Jake’s dad, Gary Myers, was lighting up the Summernats burnout pad some 30 years ago.

The new/throwback look has taken Jake around 4-5 months to get all the pieces to complete the puzzle. During that time he’s also completed a refresh of the engine after the ring gear on the flywheel broke off at Brashernats in June.

Completing the look is a set of chromed five-slot wheels, wheelie bars (the same ones that were on GM176 back in the days), a new front grille and Mustang badge, a 3M 2080 Gloss metallic black wrap, a shiny new injector hat and much more. Before the 3M wrap, which was completed by Jake’s wrap company, Myers Vinyl Wraps, the Mustang had a trip to the panel beaters for some TLC to get everything all smick once again.

The new look of S1CKO/GM176 has to be seen to be believed - you’ll think you’re in the early 90s looking at what is arguably the most famous burnout car in the world - the same car that Gary drove to win a world championship trophy.

During its life the ’66 Mustang has competed for more than 35 years and has won seven burnout titles at Summernats, including Burnout Masters twice. Just this year Jake took out a very hot field at Rockynats 02, his first win at the Central Queensland Easter weekend event.

If nostalgia and insane burnouts are your thing make sure you head to Summernats 35 this January 5-8 to see S1CKO/GM176’s new look. If you show up on Thursday to Summernats you’ll see Gary skid the Mustang in an exhibition skid - yep, you read that right - so do not miss it.

Don’t forget to bring your limiter fingers because few motors sound as good as this ’66 Mustang’s blown methanol 302ci Ford Windsor engine.
