Did Anybody Order A Convertible, Electric G Wagon?

Watts all fuss about this 460hp, all-electric luxury off-roader?

SEMA is the strangest combination of all things automotive; a melting pot of stunning custom creations, the famed ‘SEMA build’ rushed fabrication photos and then there’s automotive oddities like this modified G wagon, which at first glance could easily be dismissed for a kitted out Suzuki Sierra! More EV News.

If it looks a little shorter than your average G wagon that’s because it's a rare factory Cabriolet model, meaning the two doors and soft top are all as the German automaker intended. Everything else however, has been extensively modified by Canadian craftsman Trickfactory Customs.

G Wagon Junior boasts some serious underpinnings, with remote reservoir, long-travel suspension at all four corners suggesting that this 12-volt tourer might find it’s way offroad, though we’d hate to see what that deep black paint job looked like adorned with some bush pinstripes!

The reality is this build wouldn’t be nearly as interesting if it didn’t boast the 460hp, 960lb.ft electric motor conversion. The engine bay looks comically sparse with nothing but the Revolt Systems CR43 motor sitting awkwardly where the ICE engine once sat, but the numbers don’t lie and the electric driveline is a sizeable improvement over the six cylinder engine it was originally equipped with.
