Chevrolet Camaro Crowned Motorvation 37 Champion

After two scorching hot days at the Perth Motorplex, Sunday at Motorvation 37 kicked right into gear with twelve cars going head-to-head in the driving events to make their claim for the Motorvation Champion award. Like all 'Nats events, winning the top gong award is a culmination of judging and driving scores. It's all well and good to park up in the hall and judge well, but if you can't score in the driving events - you're a goner!

The driving component consists of three seperate events, 1/8th mile drag racing, go-to-whoa and slalom. This year competition was stiff, with Red CentreNATS champ Nigel Warr in his incredible Chevy Big-Block Holden HQ Ute, previous Motorvation champ Simon Birch in that wild Suzuki Mighty Boy, and Meguiar's Superstar Dean Rickard in his Holden HT Monaro and other top-judged local contenders.

After a few hours of on-track action, the top three was decided. It was no suprise to anyone to see Dean Rickard, Nigel Warr and WA local Mitch Rando round out the podium finishers with an all GM lineup. A dominate performance from Mitch Rando in his gorgeous blue 1969 Chevrolet Camaro saw him take out first place in all three of the driving events - which crowned him the winner of the show.

After some mechanical issues last year in the driving events, Mitch was over the moon to come back and have another crack this year, and take out the award. Taking a deserving win and strapping the trophy in to the passenger seat, Rando packed into the Camaro and left the snakepit in a big cloud of smoke - impressing the fans on the hill just in time for the burnouts later that afternoon.

It was an epic way to close out an awesome weekend, crowning a new Motorvation champion. We can't wait to see what's in store for next year! Check out some of the highlights from the driving events below and be sure to subscribe to the Performance Garage YouTube channel for more.
