Jody Vincitorio built this multi award-winning Elite-level HQ Monaro coupe known as CHOPPT.
“I wanted to build the most unpractical, blingy, useless waste of money car ever. I think I have achieved that” laughs Jody. The car was bought for just ten grand but it took $130,000 and well over 4,000 man hours of labour to win just about every award in sight. Actually, in terms of Elite-level builds that’s pretty good value for the results it has achieved.
The awards include Top 10 at Summernats 2012 plus Top Custom, Top High Impact and third for bodywork at the same event, Top Custom at Springnats 2013 and again in 2014 where it also took Top Coupe, Top Interior and a Top 10 overall, and it was part of the Top Overall Show Cars of Melbourne in 2012.
The car was green back then though with a brushed-steel interior. It has since been resprayed Candy Tangerine Orange Pearl, over a white base, inside and out as well as underneath.
In addition to its spectacular level of presentation is also has some impressive mechanical specs. There is a 468ci Big Block V8 running trumpets, methanol and nitrous, lots of chassis work including a 4-link rear end (controlled laterally by a 5th link), big Wilwood brakes and massive 20x16in billet rear wheels.
There is a full feature on Jody’s HQ Monaro coupe in issue 4 of Street Holdens magazine; it is available now and it comes with the latest issue of Performance Garage magazine.
