After penning a yarn earlier this month about Mighty Car Mods’ turbocharged Camry and falling down a rabbit hole of (and it still painsme to say this) performance oriented Toyota Camrys, Zuckerberg’s algorithm has rightly assumed that I’ve turned my back on my street machining heritage and instead has served me more modified Toyota content than I think it’s safe to consume.
One happy coincidence however, was stumbling across this wild LS-swapped, rear wheel drive Toyota Echo from Quebec.
Starting with a rather bland looking Echo, owner Boubou Brouillette has slung the Toyota econo-box over a custom chassis and stuffed it with a full roll cage to give the poor little hatchback the chutzpah it needed for the ensuing driveline swap.
A 9-inch diff’ in the rear with radial tyres fills custom tubs, with a custom trans tunnel between the two front seats filling the space behind the LS engine that barely fits under the bonnet!
As if all that wasn’t wild enough, the LS has been boosted with a turbo that sits neatly behind the front bar, and with the right numbers pumped into the Holley Terminator ECU, the little Echo recently spat out 650hp at the rear wheels on crummy 91 octane pump fuel!
