Brock Owners Club Meet

We were recently invited along to a display day with the Brock Commodores Owners Association of New South Wales where as you can imagine we were greeted with an array of very special cars. One of which was this replica of the John Harvey Wayne Negus Marlboro A9X hatchback which goes just as good as it looks.

A line up of the first in the HDT series, the top of the line SL/E based VC with its Group C inspired wheel arch flares and unique stripe package powered by a 160kw 5.0 litre V8 with choice of a Turbo 350 automatic or M21 4-speed manual transmission.

500 VC HDT Commodores were built which were available in only three colours being, Palais White, Firethorn Red and Tuxedo Black which were all colours similar to Brocks major sponsor of the day, Marlboro cigarettes.

The VH was the next model to be released which was available in three levels, Group one, two and three with obviously the Group three being the ducks guts which incidentally was also the most popular of the VH model.

Two very rare cars indeed in the form of the two door Opel Monza which was fitted with a Group three spec 5.0 litre engine a T5 5-speed manual transmission and independent rear suspension. The other car is an original HDT prototype to gauge interest in building such a car.

This highly modified Group C VC Commodore was built by HDT for a customer who wanted their car to resemble what was seen on the race track and believe me it has a very menacing appearance.

Probably the most luxurious of the Brock Commodores the VK Calais Director which was marketed towards the customer who wanted a Brock car that came with all the bells and whistles.

The last of the line of Brock vehicles the HDT VL Group A Plus Pack complete with 5.0 litre V8, 5-speed manual transmission and the infamous Energy Polarizer.

Another of the special cars was this replica of the HDT LJ GTR XU-1 which had also been built to a very high standard that it required a double take to check that it was not genuine. A great day of Holden's best!
