Bradley Bridge has been a car fanatic ever since he can remember, and his latest car is built for one purpose only, to be driven. Admittedly not a show stopping elite hall stunner, Brad’s 1977 Holden HZ Kingswood can be spotted cruising around the Gold Coast and attending as many car shows and meets as possible. Brad says with each show he attends, his passion for these cars grows larger.
With each event he attends he gets more amped to continue building out his HZ into his dream street machine. He originally bought the car from NSW and over a few months with the car off the road and in his back shed, he and a few mates got together to build the car into what you see today. The big Aussie-built station wagon is dipped in the infamous Panama Green, with a white roof, front visor and of course, roof racks.
Up the front lays a freshly built Holden 355ci motor with a big lumper and some of the usual gear built in. It’s got a Trimatic gearbox, 3500 Hi Stall torque converter and 3.55 diff gears up the back. Brad told us up next will be "Henry’s nine inches of fury" for a bit more party. Oh, it’s also got a 125hp shot of gas which is yet to be tested. The goal is to get it out and race it and run a high 10-second pass - on whitewalls might we add.
The interior has been completely trimmed up and looks as fresh as ever, and what Kingy is complete without a bumpin’ stereo and some hectic Venetian blinds. The big rig sits on some 14-inch stockies with chrome Holden hub caps and whitewalls to complete the classic 70's Holden look.
It’s a mad head turner and we just love the fact that this thing is driven. Brad tells us he drove it all the way from the Goldie for Summernats 35 and it never skipped a beat. Keep an eye out at shows like Cooly Rocks and any other awesome shows on the Gold Coast, as it’s almost a guarantee you’ll spot Brad and his wicked cool ’77 Kingswood.
