Aussie Drag Racer Debuts His 2500HP Street Car

Paul Mouhayet was the fastest man in the world on a 10.5in tyre. Now he’s looking to break some 2JZ records.

Paul Mouhayet comes from a long line of expert car builders. As well as several ballistic radial race cars over the years, the extended Mouhayet family can also lay claim to the iconic WOG007 Cortina that was recently rebuilt by their Moits Motorcars workshop, as well as the Ford V8-powered Datsun 260Z, BADWOG.

But it’s Paul’s latest build that’s got us hot and bothered - one of the most sinister looking JZA80 Supras we’ve ever seen, and it’s been built with one thing in mind.

Lovingly restored at the family’s Thornleigh Auto Body workshop, the car looks brand new and the gray hue perfectly complements the literbal helpings of carbon fibre that you’ll find in every corner of the build.

In the engine bay, a carbon fibre radiator shroud and intake duct direct air into the GAS Racing-built ‘Ultimate Street’ 2JZ engine, using a billet block, Precision XPR 110 turbo and a billet Hypertune intake manifold to raise hell to the tune of 2578hp on the GAS Racing hub dyno.

Inside the car is finished to the same impeccably high standard with carbon fibre seats for both driver and passenger the real heroes amongst an otherwise dark alcantara retrim.

Underneath, the car hasn’t deviated wildly from the factory Toyota chassis and suspension offerings including retaining the factory IRS for the time being, making the car eligible for a raft of international 2JZ records.

We’ll be watching eagerly as the team takes to the track to debut the car in the coming weeks.
