The General Motors vs Ford feud has been one of the longest lasting in the automotive industry, with each manufacturer releasing numerous models with high-performance pedigree over the years in an attempt to gain the upper hand.
The Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang are two of the most iconic American vehicles to champion this cause and with each receiving a recent revival, we thought we’d get them together for a side by side comparison.
The lovely Mallory acted as our impartial judge while the cars themselves were provided by Herman at Down Under Muscle Cars.
Down Under Muscle Cars are not your average importer, able to source a customers dream car and make sure that it is compliant and 100% legal for road use in Australia. This involves converting each car to right-hand drive. We had a look over both the Mustang and Camaro in detail, and we couldn't find a single tell-tale sign of a conversion being done. This is thanks to the custom dashes that Herman and the team knock up in house, retaining the factory look while moving everything onto the right side of the car.
The Mustang that Herman provided was a customer’s 2010 Shelby GT500 and Mallory was instantly a fan.
These things are an absolute weapon from the factory but the 5.4L blown V8 that resides under the bonnet had been given a bit of a tune up, pumping out a staunch 392rwkW.
Mallory gave the interior the thumbs up and loved the overall look of the car and we were pretty big fans as well.
Next up was the 2011 SS Camaro and as you can see, Mallory made herself right at home.
Under the bonnet of this black beast resides a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 and although it hasn’t been modified like the Mustang, 245rwkW is still nothing to sneeze at!
In the end, it was too close for us to decide so we want to hear from you guys; which one would you pick?
If the answer to that question is serious and you would actually like to have one of these American icons for yourself, be sure to contact Herman at Down Under Muscle Cars.
