This staggeringly-powerful S14 Silvia is the workshop test-bed of Powertune Australia in Wetherill Park, NSW.

This is one of a number of cars in which Powertune Australia have proven the massive potential that lies within the original SR20DET engine’s architecture. This example has produced an almighty 521 rear wheel kilowatts.

To crank out such a massive number from such a little engine this rebuilt SR features a billet stroker crank that increases the capacity to 2.35L, Brian Crower Stage 2.5 cams, a ported head, a Plazmaman plenum and throttle body, a Precision 6262 turbocharger and a long list of other enhancements.

Extremely wide 17x11in SSR SP1 rear wheels with Mickey Thompson 315/35 rear tyres are used to make having that much power a worthwhile exercise, whilst a set of Tien coil-overs enhance the feel of the suspension.

The car’s best pass on the quarter mile, even though it runs a manual gearbox (specifically one from an RB25 that now has a PPG dog-engagement gearset) is a very quick 10.03@144mph.
